Oral Hygiene

Orthodontic Oral Hygiene Information for Patients

Interdental Toothbrush

If you are wearing traditional braces, good oral hygiene is also important. Braces can act as a food trap. The results can be discolored teeth and cavities. Brushing after every meal will prevent these issues. Be sure to schedule a hygiene appointment with your family dentist. If you have been thinking about Invisalign, it would be our pleasure to do an evaluation at no cost.

Mouthwash

We recommend that our patients rinse their mouth with mouthwash or water to help remove any debris left over after brushing.

Cleaning Your Retainer

Brush your retainer with cold soapy water when you remove it from your mouth. Do not use toothpaste, it is very abrasive. Denture cleansers are optional but not required.

Cleaning Your Clear Aligners

Oral hygiene is always important especially when you are wearing Invisalign aligners. Throughout the day food and beverages can become trapped in the aligners and if left uncleaned, cavities will form more rapidly.you will brush your clear aligners with cold soapy water when you remove it from your mouth. Do not use toothpaste, it is very abrasive. Denture cleansers are optional but not required.
